This is a huge rivalry, especially when the game is played down in Mexico City. Add the fact that Mexico NEEDS this win to realistically stay alive for an auto birth to South Africa, and you will have an insane atmosphere that will make all NCAA Football crowds look like a tennis crowd. The US has never won in Estadio Azteca and has only 1 draw to their credit. However, everyone here is drinking the Kool-Aid after we came soooooooooo close to beating Brazil down in South Africa in June.

Unfortunately this game is only being televised on two different Spanish channels mun2 and television, neither are carried by suddenlink extended cable. :frown" I do have a friend that has a sports tier from them that shows a lot of soccer and am hoping it will be shown there.

Yeah I don't know how anyone expects the average fan to take soccer seriously when a game like this isn't televised. It's a shame really.

Just posted this one the myspace. HUGE game this afternoon! Can't wait let's get it done US!!

Whether your a football fan or not it's a spectacle like none other in this hemisphere. Football meaning soccer...

USA Soccer

The day is finally here! After our C Team took a beatdown in the Gold Cup Finals (5-0) it's time to get revenge IN Mexico. History has not proven to be kind to the US when they play in Mexico, Team USA a staggering 0-22-1 with the only draw coming a couple of years ago.

World Cup Qualifying and coverage of one of the most heated rivalries in sports begins LIVE @ 2pm CST on ESPN! Game starts at 3pm CST and can be seen on TeleMundo!

USA looking for big time revenge against MEXICO starting in just a couple of hours. Here's what star forward Landon Donovan had to say about things....

It just feels different this time around. That being said, hopefully they don't come out and get beat down by Mexico.

I'm tired of the blasphemy from ESPN!

I'm gettin real tired of all the "experts" on ESPN saying the US has no chance. Not only do we have a chance we are GOING TO WIN! 2-0, 2-1 however it goes down I don't care but the US leaves Azteca this afternoon with 3 MORE POINTS!

Earlier Mike Wilbon compared the game to Federer playing Roddick while A-Rod had 2 casts on! Kornheiser gives us no respect either. Even Alexi Lalas who usually tells it like it is is trippin! Lalas predicts a 1-1 draw which wouldn't be terrible but we want those Tres Puntos!

What to expect from this one?

I think you can expect a lot of emotions and tempers especially early on. Even though it was the C Team that took the beat down at the Gold Cup, Sam's Army is pissed! You would be too if a riff raff group of Mexicans ran up your team 5-0! And yeah I said it they're a riff raff group, these guys are NOTHING! With the exception of Marquez, Pardo and De Santos, this team has nobody that's gonna make a big play happen against the boys!

Oguchi needs to be careful he and 3 other US players with a yellow coming in, so one more and they'll miss the next match against El Salvador. Landon Donovan playing some of his best futbol in quite sometime look for him to put one in the back of the net! 19 yr old phenom Jozy Altidore youngest US player to record a hat trick. Charlie Davies rising star attacker on the US squad he'll get some time on the pitch today too...

Two problems I have though and they're both on the back line. As I've said before I'm NOT a fan of Demerit and Spector, although Demerit is much worse. If it was my team I'd start Goodson in for Demerit and where the hell is Frankie Hejduk?!? He's still very much able to play the game and Bob Bradley should use him regularly. Also Freddy Adu unfortunately I don't expect to see him this afternoon either. Ricardo Clark we'll see him in the midfield with some speed today and Brian Ching hopes to provide a spark in the box and on set pieces he'll be starting this afternoon as well...

Subs look for maybe a Pablo Mastroeni or even a young player like a Jose Torres to come off the bench in the 2nd half. Also Cherundolo can he go the full 90? If not look for a Jonathon Spector to come in sometime in the 2nd half.

US 0-22-1 at Mexico coming in but that changes after today! DONT TREAD ON US!!!

Looked like a pretty blatant foul that went uncalled that led to the goal by Mexico there. 1-1 now.

This is gonna be tough to pull out. If we get a point, it's a huge blow to El Tri's World Cup chances. We can afford to play a little looser and more relaxed because we are in very good shape to qualify. Yes, it's a rivalry and we want to beat them, but our players have perspective on this game. It's one away qualifier. Any point is a good point. It will be tough to win in Azteca. Azteca is basically like The Swamp if the elevation was 7000 feet and you gave the fans Red Bull and crack before the game.

Now, Mexico is under scrutiny that would make the New York media look relaxed. The entire country has the Mexico National Team under a microscope. If they lose to the rich, white gringos at Azteca for the first time EVER and don't make the World Cup, heads will roll.

I have been holding out hope for a 2-1 USA win before the game. It's 1-1 right now, so maybe we can hold, and someone like Altidore can come off the bench and bang one home in the later minutes.
