Is Criticism of the Romo Throw Fair?
For those who didn't watch the game, in the 2nd half, Tony Romo was flushed out of the pocket to the right, and just as it looked like he would take off and run with the ball, he spotted Tashard Choice wide open across the field. He threw across his body and hit the wide-open Choice for a first down completion.
Romo has taken a ton of criticism for the throw, with some calling him careless. Jay Mariotti basically threw a tantrum on Around the Horn a few minutes ago, saying that throw is an example of why he isn't a good quarterback. I completely disagree. While Romo does make impulse throws at times, the throw in question was to a wide open target, and there was absolutely no danger in the ball going the other way. I just think Mariotti and Steve Young need to point their criticism a different direction in this instance.
