Re: Shaq to Cleveland...
Now what I think about the move....Overall I think the Cavs will benefit and Shaq's #'s will look better than he will be next season. Alot of people think he's washed up but I think he's still got a few years of quality play left. However, he's far too slow to be beneficial to this team in an offense that loves to play with speed whenever they get the chance. They're going to be pick & rolled to death this upcoming season, and him clogging the lane is going to take away a big part of LeBron's game.
I would've preferred Tyson Chandler or Chris Kaman. A younger, more versatile big who can bang down low. Tyson could've been had easily, but I guess Cleveland wasn't interested. If they would've coupled one of those guys with Rasheed Wallace (which could still happen) it would've been an upgrade over Shaq.
Shaq does bring his positives. One thing he provides, is a scary option in the middle. The pressure LeBron gets should be lessened, since a pass to Shaq will make you pay. Another thing, and it's something Shaq is underrated for, is Shaq's ability to pass. With good shooters like West and Mo, this should elevate their games as well.
BTW, the Mavs front office is going to get KILLED by the Mavs fans...Shaq had always said Dallas was his preferred destination, and for what the Cavs gave up for him(Big Ben, Sasha, cash and a 2nd rounder), the Mavs Brain trust should be lambasted for not getting a deal done for him. Of course PHX may have decided that they would NEVER trade him to a Western team, especially a rival like Dallas, and this is moot, lol.
