McDyess to the Spurs
"Hoopsworld.com is reporting that the Spurs and Antonio McDyess have agreed to a three-year deal.
Once the Spurs ink McDyess, they will have completed a fantastic offseason after acquiring Richard Jefferson, and drafting DeJuan Blair and Jack McClinton. McDyess should start at PF, joining Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili/Michael Finley, Jefferson and Tim Duncan in the starting five. The Spurs are back. Source: Hoopsworld.com"
The Spurs sure did not sit on their hands this off-season they are making it known to the world that they want their spot at top back from the Lakers.
The guy not mentioned in the blurb is Roger Mason Jr who will again play a part potentially in the starting 5 depending on whether or not Manu starts or comes off the bench. I do not think Finley is in the running to start for the Spurs.
The one thing I would worry about with this signing of McDyess is that they really never brought in that guy to guard the opposing combo forwards or those guys that can move around like that. That has been one of the problems I have noticed the most, and McDyess really does nothing to alleviate that problem. Blair was a fantastic pick, but I don't know if he is athletic enough to do that either. All around, I do believe that should be one of the things they really need to look for, because aside from that they have really done a nice job this off season of souping up.
