Reds' Volquez has Tommy John Surgery
Reds' pitcher Edinson Volquez underwent Tommy John surgery this morning after being on the DL since June 2. Many Rangers fans remember Volquez as the pitcher that never quite lived up to expectations until being traded to the Reds in exchange for Josh Hamilton prior to the 2008 season, a season which saw him make the NL All-Star team and be among a list of Cy Young candidates. Volquez will now face a 12 month rehab, which may leave him missing close to the entire 2010 season as well. It will be interesting to see how he recovers, as the surgery seems to be hit or miss for various athletes.
