Perfect Game by Mark Buehrle

I don't know if anyone just saw this, but Mark Buehrle of the White Sox has just pitched a perfect game against the Rays. I don't care who you root for, it is always neat to see this happen. One of the greatest plays to save a perfect game or no-hitter was made by Dewayne Wise in center field to get the first out of the 9th inning as Wise leaped and snagged a potential home run from the other side of the wall and managed to hang on as he fell to the ground. Just a great display of pitching with no baserunners allowed.

Yeah even more impressive was his rhythm on the mound. He had 8 at-bats last less than 30 seconds and another 10 the were between 31 seconds to 1 minute. Impressive as well because he doesn't have an overpowering fastball. He had to work every single batter, yet managed to come out unscathed.

Ha just saw that the same umpire that was behind the plate for his no-hitter against Texas in 2007 was behind the plate again for this one. Pretty sweet that he achieved both against teams that were notoriously good with the bats.

Skip Bayless has once again proved his dim-wittedness by suggesting that the umpire gave Buehrle the perfect game and that the Rays sucking since the All-Star break has more to do with the accomplishment than Buehrle pitching well. I truly hope the Rays come out and put 15 runs on the board in their next game just to shut this sorry excuse for an analyst up.
