College Football Week 1
So in the aftermath of BYU defeating Oklahoma on Saturday, BYU has jumped to No. 9 in the newest AP Poll, and I have to say, I'm surprised it isn't higher. I don't think it's too early for the "Ohio State is overrated again" talk to begin. Also, Penn State at 7? No way. Either way, OU is looking at most likely a throw-away season now that Bradford is down for some time. I don't think it affects his long-term NFL future, but when the doctors are unable to release any timetable, it usually isn't a good sign folks. Even if they do win some tough games, it will be even tougher to crack back into the top 4, much less high enough for consideration to be handed a national championship berth again...
Watch out for those Texas Longhorns people. Talk has already started about Florida possibly being the greatest college team ever. The last time I heard this talk was in 2005 about USC. ESPN even had a 2 week special leading up to the big game detailing how that 2005 USC team was possibly (and some of the panelists argued PROBABLY) the greatest ever. Then they went out and got carved up by Vince Young, with Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart showing flashes of exactly how they would flop in the NFL when facing real talent. Don't sleep on this team people. Tim Tebow is good, but he won't be able to win another title himself.

It seems they have put the timetable at 2-4 weeks for Bradford's return. They will be playing @ Miami in 3 weeks and will hope to have Bradford back by then if they want to keep their BCS hopes alive.
Ohio St. is possible the most overrated team in the last 5 years. They coast through a relatively weak conference and out-of-conference games, and then lose the important games against actual competitive teams.
Penn State takes the Big-10 this year. The Nittany Lions have always produced top notch linebackers. This season is no different as Sean Lee will be back to lead a defensive unit that that ranked in the top 10 in total defense last season. Just like last season, Penn State will be one upset loss away from playing in the National Championship game. This year’s loss: the very last game of the year at Michigan St.
Texas Longhorns have me worried. Do you realize that ULM is about the exact same size as Angelo State? I was expecting Texas' defense to play much better than they did. Giving up 20 pt's to a school that small and of that caliber is unacceptable.

Yeah, I'm with you, but I think they'll be fine once they get going. Same with Ole Miss. I expect them, especially Snead, to play better than they showed this weekend.

Also, why are more people not talking about the ending to Florida St.-Miami last night? I had no rooting interest, but I was somewhat upset Florida State wasn't given one more play. There clearly should have been a second left on the clock, and it wasn't really close. Has one of those weird feelings to it if you ask me. All I can figure is that the official clock wasn't the same as the one being broadcast.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game last night. FSU, Great red zone threats...but where's the run blocking? Can't be that one dimensional. If they would have just had a decent rush attack thy would have won. They passed every single time in the red zone in that last drive. Not just because of the clock either (oh yea good job Bowden for letting the clock go from 45 sec to 19 sec while you tried substituting players.....you had a goddamn timeout you senile bastard!) but because their rush attack had no resemblance of a tough between the tackles attack. None. The rush attack is soft and they better improve on that before defenses start just going after the pass over and over (as they should IMO).
I was watching the clock on the last play. I think it had 5 second to begin the play and it was to close to call at the end. 99% of the time the refs will let that last second burn off if its too close to call so I didn't think to much of it. That receive for FSU should have brought that ball in. Sure, the ball should have been about 2" higher but that's no excuse, you can't drop a pass that's in your hands in the endzone.
