Memphis Stripped of 2007-2008 Season

So the NCAA has made yet another head-scratching ruling for a punishment to an NCAA program. Ruling that an unnamed player (supposedly Derrick Rose) was ineligible for that season, Memphis, who retains neither Rose or their head coach, was stripped of their 2007-2008 season which saw them in the championship game against Kansas. For me, it just seems like another boneheaded move by the NCAA; I don't see what good it's really doing with neither Rose nor John Calipari around to suffer for it. It also seems like a situation in which clearly the school wouldn't have known of the violation any sooner than they did. Either way, I just don't see much use in vacating wins nearly two years in the past.
